[ The Uchiha district has gotten a lot smaller in the years following the massacre. The village began expanding into it not too long ago, leaving a small area to the clan's name as both an homage and memorial to the fallen innocents. Within that small area, only two households are actually occupied by anyone. After Sakura gave birth to Sasuke's child, it was suggested she move there so that the child could have a connection to her heritage while her father was away. The other estate belongs to Uchiha Obito, a man branded a criminal and traitor by the village. The only reason he hasn't been locked away in a high security prison forever is because of his active part in ending the war... (that he started) and saving humanity -- or else, that's the reason the Hokage gave for his decision. Most are aware that Obito was given special exemption because of his relationship with Kakashi. Of course, other factors played into it, but that was the main one.
Of course, that doesn't mean Obito is a completely free man by any means. An agreement had been arranged between the Hokage and his advisers that Obito would be confined to the boundaries of Uchiha property, unless otherwise temporarily overruled (when the village needed his special abilities) or when in the company of a few select shinobi. Sakura being one of them.
Sakura had been kind to him before, more so than anyone else, but she had always approached him with a degree of caution. He thought it would always be like that, up until the point wherein she got pregnant. She moved to the district shortly after, an area that most didn't like to visit because of Obito's constant presence. This is what had drawn Obito and Sakura closer, since he visited her the most out of anyone during the nine months she was mostly rendered ... ineffective. Her friends were busy with work and missions, and Sasuke had decided to do some traveling before she was due to give birth, so that left her stuck at home most of the time unless she went out of her way to visit the clinic. Obito would accompany her then, offering to do most of the grunt work and leave the technical stuff to her. There were times he felt concern over how hard she worked.
Sasuke came back home in time for the birth of Sarada. He stayed for a few months before getting restless(?) and departing on another journey that would benefit Konoha's intel. Obito then took it upon himself to help Sakura out during the days her friends were unable to, visiting frequently. Since he didn't have a job, he didn't really have anything else to do. He had to learn how to change diapers and prepare baby meals, but it wasn't a process that he took long to get used to. He soon took to the role of taking care of Sarada and grew attached to the little Uchiha... She was his kin, after all. But he also grew attached to Sakura, becoming especially fond and protective of her.
He earns her trust enough that she lets him babysit the child when she is called back to the clinic or asked to take missions, but she seems to prefer staying home with her daughter when she can't take her to the clinic with her. During these first few years of the child's life, it is especially important for her to form a relationship with her parents, so he understands why she would. By the time she turns two, Sarada had learned to walk, which was both wonderful and disastrous. She gets into things when she can, but with two highly-trained shinobi around, she never gets too deep into trouble. Obito often wonders when Sasuke would show up again, since it's already been over a year since he's been gone.
The days get shorter as fall quickly approaches and by the time Obito visits Sakura's estate today, it's already dark. He hadn't been able to come by because he'd been waiting on his order from one of the only stores that would sell to him, which arrived late. With the shipment, came a few gifts he'd gotten for Sakura and Sarada. A bouquet of flowers for Sakura, because she mentioned liking this particular flower before, and a new stuffed animal for Sarada (she had a lot of those, she's spoiled).
When he arrives at the back porch of the house, he knocks first and opens the door, stepping in quietly in case Sarada had already been put to bed (or a nap, that girl never slept a whole eight hours straight). He has a big of rice cakes hanging from his arm, and his gifts held beneath the other. ]
just because you used a kakasaku icon...
